MMA Method Predictions

Every fight we rate on the method market, with the probability and the best price. Method of victory names how the fight ends: knockout or technical knockout, submission, or decision. Most bookmakers price it for each fighter, so there are six outcomes. A fighter who wins by disqualification is settled as a knockout or a decision depending on the bookmaker's rules.

Percentages are our win probability for each side and always total 100, because MMA cannot end level. The tip is our one call on each bout, and it names its own market. 1 is the first fighter, 2 the second, matching the percentages. A tip with no label is a straight win. Method 1 (KO) is the first fighter to win inside the distance, and Over / under O 1.5 is the bout passing that many rounds. Green means the call won, red means it lost, amber means it has not settled yet. Losing calls stay on the page, which is what the accuracy record is built from. The last column shows the start time until a bout begins, then the live score, then the final score.

How MMA Method Settles

What counts, and what does not

  1. The line. Method of victory names how the fight ends: knockout or technical knockout, submission, or decision. Most bookmakers price it for each fighter, so there are six outcomes. A fighter who wins by disqualification is settled as a knockout or a decision depending on the bookmaker's rules.
  2. Overtime. A fight has no overtime. A draw or a no contest refunds the stake on the winner market at most bookmakers. Method and round markets settle on the official result as announced.
  3. Pushes refund. A draw or a no contest refunds the stake at most bookmakers.

Settlement rules vary slightly between bookmakers. Where practice differs we say "most bookmakers"; check the rules of the one you use before placing anything.

About Our MMA Method Predictions

What the market is, how we rate it, where it tends to land and how to use the page

MMA method of victory predictions rate how each fight ends, by knockout, submission or decision, rather than only who wins. Method depends on the matchup more than on either fighter alone. A striker with knockout power against an opponent with a weak chin is a knockout call. A grappler against an opponent with poor takedown defence is a submission call. A fight between two durable fighters who rarely finish is a decision, and the price on a decision is often the best value on the card. We rate the method on every fight we cover and list the ones that clear our threshold here, from the card on the MMA predictions hub.

How Method Settles

Method of victory names how the fight ends: knockout or technical knockout, submission, or decision. Most bookmakers price it for each fighter, so there are six outcomes. A fighter who wins by disqualification is settled as a knockout or a decision depending on the bookmaker's rules.

How We Rate It

Method depends on the matchup more than on either fighter alone. A striker with knockout power against an opponent with a weak chin is a knockout call. A grappler against an opponent with poor takedown defence is a submission call. A fight between two durable fighters who rarely finish is a decision, and the price on a decision is often the best value on the card. The method is on how we make predictions.

What Moves the Method

Method of victory is the market that rewards knowing the matchup. A striker with power against a weak chin is a knockout call; a grappler against poor takedown defence is a submission call; two durable fighters who rarely finish is a decision, and the decision price is often the best value on the card. Most rows here come from the UFC; other promotions are rated when the API carries their fights and their odds.

The Other Two Markets

The straight win page rates the winner alone, and is the better market when the edge is small or the favourite is not clear. The over / under page rates the combined rounds and is the natural pairing when you have a view on how the fight is played rather than who wins it.

How to Use This Page

The chips above the table switch market. The country and competition selects narrow the table to one competition without leaving the page. The day pills move to tomorrow or the week ahead, and the date picker goes to any day. Every row links to the full fixture page, where the analysis explains the number. When a pick settles it stays on the site with its result, and the market's strike rate on the accuracy page is calculated from that archive, losses included. The MMA predictions hub carries the same fixtures across every market.
