How to Judge a Football Prediction Site

Almost every prediction site claims to be the most accurate, and almost none of them publish anything you could use to check. This page is the six questions worth asking instead, and our own answers to them, including the ones that do not flatter us.

  • Six checks you can apply to any site in about two minutes.
  • No ranking table, because nobody pays us and we are not neutral about ourselves.
  • Our own answers included, honestly, including the weak one.
  • Free, like everything here.

The Six Checks

In rough order of how much they tell you.

Is the record published? Not a claimed accuracy figure, an archive you can check. Can you open a prediction from three weeks ago and see what it said next to what happened?
Do losses stay up?A site that removes or edits settled predictions has a record that means nothing, however good it looks.
Is a probability shown, or just a tip?A bare tip cannot be assessed. A tip with 58 percent next to it tells you the site expects to be wrong four times in ten, which is information.
Is there a paid tier?Where there is one, the free predictions are usually the ones the site is least confident about, and the published record rarely covers the paid set.
Is the method described?Vaguely "our expert team and advanced algorithms" is not a method. What data, weighted how, adjusted for what.
Coverage depth outside EuropeMost sites treat African and Asian leagues as filler. If you follow the NPFL or the Kenyan Premier League, this is the difference between a useful site and a useless one.

How We Answer Them

Including the one where the honest answer is "not yet".

1

Record published: yes

Every settled call, won and lost, on the accuracy page, calculated from the archive rather than chosen.

2

Losses stay up: yes

A settled prediction is never removed or edited. Open any finished fixture and the call we made is next to the final score.

3

Probability shown: yes

Every prediction carries its win probability. That is the number, not a star rating or a confidence badge.

4

Paid tier: none

There is no payment of any kind on this site. No VIP group, no subscription, no checkout. What you see is everything we have.

5

Method described: yes

In full, with the limits, on the methodology page.

6

Sample size: not yet

This is the weak one. Our published archive is still small. A strike rate over a few dozen settled calls has a wide confidence interval and should be treated with more caution than a rate over thousands. It grows daily, and until it is large we would rather say so than round the number up.

Reading the Usual Claims

What these phrases mean in practice.

"95 percent accurate" Almost always a selected sample: featured tips, a good month, or only the calls that were settled. Ask which predictions the figure covers and over what period.
"Sure wins" and "100 percent" Not possible for an event nobody has watched. A site using these words is telling you something about itself rather than about the match.
"VIP tips available" Means the free predictions are the ones being held back. The paid record is almost never published, and cannot be checked after the fact.
"Expert team" May be true and tells you nothing. Ask what the method is and whether the record is checkable.

For an outside view, Complete Sports maintains a checklist of prediction sites that covers some of the same ground. We cite it because it is one of the few that states its criteria rather than simply ranking.

Every prediction on AccuratePredict is free. No paid tier, no VIP group, no subscription, no account needed.

About Choosing a Prediction Site

Why we will not publish a ranked list

The best football prediction site is the one whose record you can check. That is close to the whole answer, and it eliminates most of the category immediately, because a claimed accuracy figure with no archive behind it is not evidence of anything.

Why There Is No Ranking Table Here

Two reasons, and both matter. First, we are one of the sites being judged, so a table with us near the top would be worth exactly nothing to you. Second, most "top prediction sites" listings are affiliate placements sorted by commission, which is why the same handful of names appear in a different order on every one. We would rather give you the checks and let you apply them, including to us.

What a Good Answer Looks Like

A site that shows a probability on every call, keeps the losing ones published, describes its method including the parts that do not work well, and has no paid tier holding better predictions back. Those four are checkable in a couple of minutes and they are hard to fake, which is precisely why so few sites do all four. Ours are on the accuracy page and the methodology page if you want to start there.

Coverage Is a Real Differentiator

If you follow the NPFL, the Kenyan Premier League or the CAF Champions League, most of the sites in this category are close to useless to you regardless of how accurate they are on the Premier League. Depth outside Europe is worth checking before anything else.

Frequently Asked Questions

What people ask when choosing a prediction site.

Question 1

Which is the most accurate football prediction site?

Answer 1Nobody can answer that honestly, including us, because almost no site publishes an archive you could use to verify a claim. The useful question is which sites publish a checkable record at all, which narrows the field very quickly.
Question 2

Are prediction sites claiming 90 percent accuracy genuine?

Answer 2No. Usually the figure covers a selected subset: featured tips only, a good period, or predictions that were settled favourably. A figure covering every settled call is typically far lower, ours included.
Question 3

Should I pay for VIP predictions?

Answer 3No. We are not neutral, so take this as reasoning rather than advice: a paid tier means the free predictions are not the site's best work, and the paid record is almost never published, so you cannot assess it before paying. There is no paid tier on this site.
Question 4

What makes AccuratePredict different?

Answer 4The probability is published on every call, losing calls stay up permanently, there is no paid tier, and the method is written out including its limits. Our sample is still small, which is the honest caveat.
Question 5

How do I check a site's record myself?

Answer 5Find a prediction from two or three weeks ago and see whether the site still shows it next to the result. If old predictions cannot be found, or only the winners can, the record is not checkable.
